Ingredients
  

  • Ground Beef 1 Lb
  • Breadcrumbs 1/2 Cup
  • Large Egg 1
  • Medium Yellow Onion 1
  • Beef Broth 2 Cups
  • Worcestershire Sauce 1 Tbsp
  • Dijon Mustard 1 Tsp
  • Ketchup 2 Tbsp
  • Garlic 2 Cloves
  • Black Pepper 1/2 Tsp
  • Salt 1/2 Tsp
  • Olive Oil 2 Tbsp

Instructions
 

  • Mix the Beef: Combine beef, crumbs, egg, and spices in a bowl.
  • Form the Patties: Shape the meat into four oval-shaped steak portions.
  • Sear the Meat: Heat oil and brown patties on both sides well.
  • Remove and Rest: Take the meat out of the hot skillet now.
  • Sauté the Onions: Cook sliced onions in the same pan until soft.
  • Make the Gravy: Stir in broth, mustard, ketchup, and savory sauces.
  • Simmer the Sauce: Let the liquid bubble until it starts to thicken.
  • Combine and Finish: Place steaks back into the gravy to warm through.

Notes

➔ Do not overwork the meat or it will become tough.
➔ Use a heavy pan to get a dark brown crust.
➔ Slice onions very thin so they soften up quickly.
➔ Add a splash of water if the gravy gets thick.
➔ Press a small dent in patties to prevent bulging.
