Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Electric Hand Mixer
  • Baking sheets
  • Parchment paper
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wire cooling rack

Ingredients

  • Unsalted Butter 1/2 Cup
  • Brown Sugar 1 Cup
  • Pure Maple Syrup 1/4 Cup
  • Large Egg Yolk 1
  • Maple Extract 1 Tsp
  • All Purpose Flour 2 Cups
  • Baking Soda 1/2 Tsp
  • Salt 1/4 Tsp

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line your baking sheets with parchment paper now. This keeps the cookies from sticking later.
  • Place softened butter and brown sugar in a bowl. Beat them together until the mix is light. This should take about two full minutes.
  • Add the maple syrup and the egg yolk. Pour in the maple extract for extra scent. Mix again until the batter looks very smooth.
  • Whisk the flour and baking soda in another bowl. Slowly add dry parts to the wet parts. Stir until you see no more white streaks.
  • Scoop the dough into small round balls. Place them two inches apart on the sheet. This prevents the cookies from touching each other.
  • Bake the cookies for ten to twelve minutes. The edges should look a light golden brown. Do not overbake them or they get hard.
  • Let them sit on the pan for five minutes. Then move them to a wire rack carefully. Let them cool down before you eat them.

Notes

  • Use real maple syrup for the best bold flavor.
  • Do not overmix the dough once you add flour.
  • Make sure your butter is soft but not melted.
  • Chill the dough for an even chewier cookie texture.
  • Use a cookie scoop for even sizes and baking.
