- Chicken Breasts 4
- Smoked Bacon 100 g
- Apples 2
- Onion 1
- Dry Cider 300 ML
- Heavy Cream 150 ML
- Fresh Sage 1 Tbsp
- Butter 1 Tbsp
- Olive Oil 1 Tbsp
Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper. Heat oil and butter in your large skillet. Place the chicken in the pan carefully now.
Fry the chicken until both sides are golden brown. Remove the chicken and set it on a plate. Keep the pan hot for the next step.
Add the chopped bacon to the same hot pan. Fry it until the pieces become very crispy. The fat will add a lot of flavor.
Add the sliced onions and apples to the pan. Cook them until they start to turn soft. Stir them often so they do not burn.
Pour the apple cider into the skillet slowly now. Stir the bottom to release all the brown bits. This is where the big flavor lives.
Place the chicken back into the pan with the cider. Let it simmer gently for about fifteen minutes. Make sure the chicken is cooked all the way.
Stir in the heavy cream and the chopped sage. Let the sauce bubble and thicken for a minute. Your Ingredients for Hairy Bikers Somerset Chicken are now ready.
