- Basmati Rice 1.5 cups
- Water 3 cups
- Cilantro 0.5 cup
- Lime Juice 2 tbsp
- Lime Zest 1 tsp
- Vegetable Oil 1 tbsp
- Kosher Salt 1 tsp
- Garlic 1 clove
Rinse the Rice: Put the rice in a strainer. Run cold water over it. Do this until the water is clear.
Boil the Water: Place water and salt in your saucepan. Turn the heat to high. Wait for big bubbles.
Cook the Rice: Add the rice to the boiling water. Cover the pot with the lid. Turn the heat to low.
Simmer and Wait: Let it cook for 15 minutes. Do not lift the lid. Steam is very important here.
Rest the Rice: Remove the pot from the heat. Let it sit for 5 minutes. This makes it extra fluffy.
Prep the Mix: Chop your cilantro very small. Squeeze your limes into a small bowl.
Add the Flavor: Pour the lime juice over the rice. Add the zest and oil. Stir in the cilantro.
Fluff and Serve: Use a fork to mix everything. Be very gentle. Serve it while it is hot.
