  • Serving Bowl

Ingredients

  • Sweet Onions 2 cups
  • Unsalted Butter 2 tbsp
  • Olive Oil 1 tbsp
  • Cream Cheese 8 oz
  • Sour Cream 1 cup
  • Mayonnaise 1/2 cup
  • Garlic Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Fresh Thyme 1 tsp
  • Kosher Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Black Pepper 1/4 tsp

Instructions

  • Slice the Onions: Cut the onions into very thin half-moons. Make them even for cooking.
  • Caramelize the Onions: Melt butter and oil in the skillet. Add onions and cook on low heat. Stir often until they are dark brown.
  • Cool the Onions: Take the skillet off the heat. Let the onions cool down completely.
  • Mix the Base: Put cream cheese, sour cream, and mayo in a bowl. Stir them until very smooth.
  • Add Seasonings: Mix in the garlic powder and fresh thyme. Add salt and pepper now.
  • Combine Everything: Fold the brown onions into the cream mixture. Stir gently until well mixed.
  • Chill the Dip: Put the dip in the fridge. Let it sit for one hour.
  • Serve: Garnish with extra herbs. Serve it cold to your guests.

Notes

➔ Cook the onions very slowly on low heat.
➔ Use a heavy pan for even heat distribution.
➔ Do not rush the onion browning process today.
➔ Soften the cream cheese before you start mixing.
➔ Chill the dip to let flavors blend well.
➔ Use fresh herbs for the best aromatic smell.
➔ Taste the dip before serving to check salt.
