- All-purpose Flour 2 Cups
- Baking Soda 1 Tsp
- Cinnamon 1 Tsp
- Cloves 1/2 Tsp
- Honey 1 Cup
- Vegetable Oil 3/4 Cup
- Large Eggs 3
- Grated Apples 2 Cups
- Salt 1/2 Tsp
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease your cake pan well with oil or butter. Line the bottom with a round piece of parchment paper.
Whisk the flour and baking soda in a bowl. Add the cinnamon, cloves, and a pinch of salt. Set this dry mixture aside for a few minutes.
Beat the honey and oil in a large bowl. Add the eggs one at a time while mixing. Ensure the liquid looks smooth and very well combined.
Grate the apples using the large holes of your grater. Fold the shredded apples into the wet honey mixture. Stir gently so you do not lose the juice.
Add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients. Mix until you see no more white flour streaks. Do not overmix the batter or it gets tough.
Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan. Smooth the top with a spatula or a spoon. Bake for about fifty to sixty minutes until firm.
- Use fresh honey for the best and brightest floral flavor.
- Do not peel the apples to add extra fiber and color.
- Measure your flour correctly by leveling off the measuring cup.
- Let the cake cool completely before you try to slice it.
- Check the center with a toothpick to ensure it is done.
