- Unsalted Butter 1 Cup
- Confectioners Sugar 4 Cups
- Vanilla Extract 1 Tsp
- Whole Milk 2 Tbsp
- Salt 1 Pinch
Place your softened butter in the mixer bowl. Use the whisk or paddle attachment for this.
Beat the butter on medium-high speed. Do this for about three full minutes. The butter should look very pale and creamy.
Turn the mixer to the lowest speed setting. Gradually add the sifted sugar to the bowl.
Add the vanilla extract and the salt now. Pour in one tablespoon of milk as well.
Increase the speed back to medium-high again. Beat the mixture for two more minutes.
Check the thickness of your frosting now. Add more milk if it feels too stiff.
- Always use room temperature butter for smooth mixing.
- Sift your sugar to avoid any tiny white lumps.
- Add milk slowly to keep the frosting thick enough.
- Beat longer for a much lighter and fluffier texture.
- Use clear vanilla if you want a pure white.
