- All Purpose Flour 4 Cups
- Granulated Sugar 1.5 Cups
- Dark Brown Sugar 1 Cup
- Unsalted Butter 1.5 Cups
- Ground Cinnamon 2 Tbsp
- Baking Powder 1 Tsp
- Large Eggs 2
- Whole Milk 0.5 Cup
- Vanilla Extract 2 Tsp
- Salt 0.5 Tsp
Heat your oven to 325 degrees. Grease your square baking pan well. Line it with parchment paper now.
Whisk the flour and cinnamon together. Add the brown sugar and salt. Pour in the melted butter.
Mix these with a large fork. Let big clumps form slowly. This is your crumb topping.
Beat the soft butter and sugar. Use your mixer on medium speed. The mix should look pale.
Add the eggs one by one. Mix well after each addition. Pour in the vanilla extract now.
Add the flour and baking powder. Alternate this with the whole milk. Do not overmix the batter.
Spread the batter in the pan. Use your spatula to level it. It should look very smooth.
Sprinkle the crumbs over the top. Cover every inch of the batter. Press them down very lightly.
Bake for about 50 to 60 minutes. Use a toothpick to check doneness. Let the cake cool completely.
- Use cold butter for the topping.
- Do not overmix the cake batter.
- Measure your flour with a spoon.
- Wait for the cake to cool.
