- Salt 1 tsp
- Warm Water 1.5 cups
- Vegetable Oil 2 cups
- Ground Beef 1 lb
- Taco Seasoning 1 packet
- Pinto Beans 1 can
- Shredded Lettuce 2 cups
- Cheddar Cheese 1 cup
- Diced Tomatoes 1/2 cup
Mix the Dough: Combine flour, salt, and baking powder. Add warm water slowly. Stir until a soft dough forms.
Rest the Dough: Let the dough sit for fifteen minutes. This makes it much easier to roll.
Heat the Oil: Pour oil into your heavy skillet. Heat it until it is very hot.
Shape the Bread: Pull off a small piece of dough. Roll it into a flat circle. Make it about half an inch thick.
Fry the Dough: Place the dough in the hot oil. Fry until it turns golden brown. Flip it once to cook both sides.
Drain the Bread: Place the fried bread on paper towels. This keeps it from being too greasy.
Cook the Meat: Brown the beef in a separate pan. Add the taco seasoning and some water. Let it simmer until thick.
Build the Taco: Place the fried bread on a plate. Spoon the meat and beans on top.
Add Fresh Toppings: Sprinkle on lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes. Add sour cream if you like it.
