Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Sharp Chef Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Large Spoon
  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Small Whisk
  • Colander

Ingredients

  • SHRIMP 2 lbs
  • MAYONNAISE 1 cup
  • CELERY 1/2 cup
  • GREEN ONIONS 1/4 cup
  • large HARD BOILED EGGS 2
  • FRESH DILL 1 tbsp
  • LEMON JUICE 1 tbsp
  • OLD BAY SEASONING 1 tsp
  • BLACK PEPPER 1/2 tsp
  • SALT 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  • Prepare the Shrimp: Start by cleaning and peeling your fresh shrimp. Boil them in salted water until they turn pink. Drain them well and let them cool down completely.
  • Chop the Vegetables: Use your knife to dice the celery very small. Slice the green onions into thin little rounds. Peel and chop the hard-boiled eggs into chunks.
  • Mix the Dressing: In your large bowl, whisk the mayo and lemon. Add the Old Bay, dill, salt, and black pepper. Stir until the dressing looks smooth and uniform.
  • Combine Everything: Add the cooled shrimp to the creamy dressing. Toss in the celery, onions, and the chopped eggs. Stir gently so you do not mash the eggs.
  • Chill the Salad: Cover the bowl tightly with some plastic wrap. Put it in the fridge for one hour. This helps all the flavors soak into the shrimp.

Notes

➡️ Always use fresh shrimp for the very best flavor.
➡️ Pat the shrimp dry before adding them to mayo.
➡️ Do not overcook the shrimp or they get rubbery.
➡️ Chop the celery extra fine for a better bite.
➡️ Let the salad chill to blend the yummy spices.
➡️ Use full-fat mayonnaise for the most authentic Southern taste.
➡️ Add a splash of hot sauce for a kick.
