Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Electric Hand Mixer
  • 9-inch Baking Dish
  • Rubber spatula
  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons

Ingredients

  • Lump Crab Meat 1 Lb
  • Cream Cheese 8 Oz
  • Mayonnaise 1/2 Cup
  • Sour Cream 1/4 Cup
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese 1.5 Cups
  • Old Bay Seasoning 1 Tsp
  • Garlic Powder 1/2 Tsp
  • Lemon Juice 1 Tbsp
  • Worcestershire Sauce 1 Tsp
  • Green Onions 2 Tbsp
  • Hot Sauce 1/2 Tsp

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit first. Let your cream cheese sit out to become soft. This makes the mixing process much faster and smoother.
  • Put the soft cream cheese into your large bowl. Add the mayonnaise and sour cream to the cheese. Beat them together until the mixture has no lumps.
  • Stir in the lemon juice and the savory sauces. Add the Old Bay seasoning and the garlic powder. Mix everything well so the spices spread out evenly.
  • Drain your crab meat and check for any shells. Fold the crab into the bowl using your spatula. Be gentle so the crab stays in large pieces.
  • Add half of the shredded cheese to the mix. Stir in the chopped green onions very lightly now. Transfer the mixture into your clean baking dish carefully.
  • Top the dip with the remaining shredded cheddar cheese. Place the dish in the oven on the middle rack. Bake it until the cheese starts to bubble nicely.
  • Wait about twenty minutes for the top to brown. Remove the dish from the oven using oven mitts. Let it cool for five minutes before you serve.

Notes

  • Use fresh lump crab meat for the very best results.
  • Ensure the cream cheese is at room temperature before mixing.
  • Fold the crab meat gently to keep the texture nice.
  • Serve the dip immediately while it is still very hot.
  • Double the recipe if you have a very large crowd.
