Fine Mesh Strainer
- Long Grain White Rice 1 Cup
- Beef Broth 2 Cups
- Unsalted Butter 2 Tbsp
- Onion Powder 1/2 Tsp
- Garlic Powder 1/2 Tsp
- Paprika 1/4 Tsp
- Cayenne Pepper 1/8 Tsp
- Dried Parsley 1 Tsp
Rinse your white rice in a fine strainer first. Run cold water over it until the water is clear. This stops the rice from being sticky later.
Place the saucepan over medium heat on the stove. Add the butter and let it melt slowly. Do not let the butter turn brown or burn.
Add the dry rice to the melted butter now. Stir the rice for two minutes to toast it. This step adds a nutty flavor to the dish.
Pour in the beef broth and all the spices. Stir everything once to combine the flavors well. Turn the heat up to bring it to boil.
Turn the heat down to the lowest setting immediately. Place the lid on the pot very tightly. Let it simmer for fifteen to eighteen minutes.
Remove the pot from the heat when water is gone. Keep the lid on for five more minutes. Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
- Always rinse the rice to remove the extra white starch.
- Use a tight lid to keep all the steam inside.
- Do not peek at the rice while it is simmering.
- Fluff the rice with a fork instead of a spoon.
- Use low sodium broth if you want less salt overall.
